“in soft out loud” is an ongoing research exploring the synchronicity between the breath, the moving body and audio composition. “What if humanity would be able to create a breathing device capable of connecting the flow of the breath to the soundtrack of realities other than our own?” In creating material from this initial question, Manuel uncovered multiple performative sub-areas of research, both of a fictional and formative character. Examples hereof are the nature of the relationship between this particular piece of technology and the subjective human attached to it, as well as the auditive and musical implications of controlling the volume of sound with the breath. The extent to which the performance has been realised up until now, is the result of two residencies at Het Huis Utrecht, and STUK Leuven in april 2024.
